Keep your fire extinguisher ready for use.

A fire extinguisher is the first line of defense in fire protection. So, it is important to make sure your extinguishers are properly tested and inspected on a regular basis. Here at D-Blaze, we provide both monthly and annual inspections.

Inspecting Your Fire Extinguisher

The NFPA requires annual professional fire extinguisher inspections along with monthly inspections. D-Blaze provides annual fire extinguisher inspection services to all of our fire extinguishers.

Monthly Inspections are a quick review of you extinguisher. During monthly inspections, our technician will visually inspect the unit, check seals and pressure, and document the inspection. The following checklist can be used to perform extinguisher inspections:
  • Ensure accessibility. Make sure the extinguisher is in its proper spot, visible and easy to access.
  • Inspect the seals. Look over the tamper and safety seals to make sure they are intact.
  • Check the pressure. If your fire extinguisher has a pressure gauge, be sure that the gauge’s needle indicates proper pressure. If the fire extinguisher has a test indicator, press it to make sure the pressure reading is within the correct range.
  • Look for damage. Visible signs of damage, such as corrosion, leakage or a clogged nozzle, may mean it’s time to replace the extinguisher.
  • Check service date. Check the last professional service date on the tag. (A licensed fire extinguisher maintenance contractor must have inspected the extinguisher within the past 12 months.)
  • Document your inspection. Initial and date the back of the tag.

Annual Inspections are required by the NFPA and are to be performed by a licensed professional.
